am not sure if any of you’ve noticed yet, but I like to talk about things that aren’t just pick-up related. I like to cover topics that won’t just get you women, but will motivate as well.

So today I’ve decided to share with you influence… or how to make your stories more influential. Part of becoming an adult is knowing how to tell a story that has meaning and capable of bringing up those around you.

Story-telling is a truly valuable skill. I was watching a webinar with Arash Dibazar yesterday evening over Skype and he said something that stuck out in my mind. What he explained is that fighting someone one-on-one is ‘one thing’, but that can never beat the ability to influence a hundred people to fight for you or your cause.

Therefore I was inspired to put together 4 things in which I’ve realized, over time, have made me a much better story-teller.

And they are…

#1-Tell the truth:

Yes fairly obvious, I know, nevertheless many people usually do not tell the truth. This is one of the easiest ways to acquire trust, but countless don’t use it. If you speak the truth then you won’t have to act; you’ll just be.

You’ll look people in the eyes and you’ll come off genuine since you also are genuine. There are plenty of interesting and enjoyable stories that anyone can find from their life should you just sit and ponder.

You won’t have to be saving a life or overcoming anything extraordinary to create a good story. You can talk about people that you’ve read about. Maybe talk regarding someone that influenced you and precisely why they’ve earned the respect; the more passion, the better.

#2-Tell stories about overcoming a hardship:

Yes, this is great material to use and great fuel for creating a positive atmosphere that people want to be in. If you can get good at talking about stories such as these, then you’ll begin to connect with people on a new and much more inspiring level.

If you always inspire and stimulate people then they’ll stay around you and more people will wish to be around you.

And why is this?

Because you are not bringing them down. You aren’t hung up on jealousy or arrogance that gives birth to adverse thinking; which after that gives birth to negative behaviors.

When you can inspire people then you can make them feel good. You connect with others and everyone enjoys a sense of happiness. People look up to your ability to stay positive and view you as a happy person. And happiness is contagious.

#3-Practice with everyone that presents the opportunity:

Think of everyone you meet as some sort of project and try to win them over. Try to get people to tell you things like “Ya know, you are alright.” Make friends and make people smile. Allow it to be your daily goal to place a smile on 20 people’s faces.

Express yourself and see what has the most uplifting effects on people. Eventually you’ll notice what is necessary to say in order to get a ‘rise’ out of people. But first you need to focus on precisely what works and precisely what doesn’t. Try the same story a few times and if you don’t like the impression it’s delivering, then change it up a little. In time that story will evolve and become more captivating. Your stories will start to mesmerize and become a permanent addition to your personality.

#4-Make eye contact with whomever you are telling the story to at that given moment (If with multiple people; alternate from person to person every 3-5 seconds.).

Yes, eye-contact is incredibly powerful and sometimes I feel that it results in a spiritual connection, so to speak. I have also noticed that it is a rare quality that not many people can grasp properly.

I honestly do not believe that anything meaningful can be said without eye-contact. When you can look another person in their eyes while still addressing eloquence, then you display a rare kind of value that naturally elevates everyone’s oppinion of you.

Women will be intrigued because of your confidence and you’ll get the girls you deserve. You’re going to get along better with most everyone and you’ll be viewed as a leader.

Now to conclude…

Influence… whether it’s your priority or not, it is a requirement for becoming successful in any path that you might choose to follow. The better you become at this, then the more opportunities there are that will present themselves.

Story-telling is just about the most powerful and most important things you need to master if you ever expect to get to the ‘top’. If you’re a good story-teller your social-life will blossom. Of course you’ll need to be good to people as well, but aside from that story-telling is probably essentially the most helpful tools a leader can have.

So keep this in mind the next time that you are out and play around with it. Focus on what I mentioned and watch what it does for you.

Now since we are on the subject, I thought I’d introduce a good book that opened my mind. This book is called…

Lead with a Story: A Guide to Crafting Business Narratives That Captivate, Convince, and Inspire” by Paul Smith
